Tong Xindi & Shen Ting

The artist duo Tong Xindi and Shen Ting graduated from prestigious art institutions: Tong from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and Shen from the China Academy of Art with a Bachelor in Ceramic Art & Design. In their creative process, they use custom-built machinery and computer programming to precisely control ceramic crafting. This approach allows them to accurately manage variables in the ceramic production process, aiming to mimic nature's creations.

Tong and Shen have held solo exhibitions titled "Glaze Temptation" (2020) and "Microcosm" (2022) at Merci Gallery in Hangzhou, China. They also participated in the group exhibition "Artefact" at Ting-Ying Gallery, Design Centre, London, in 2021. That same year, they showcased their works at "E-arth ear-th," the 12th Chinese Contemporary Young Ceramic Artist Work Exhibition at the Crafts Museum of CAA, Hangzhou.

Furthermore, the duo collaborated on two special exhibitions at the Crafts Museum of CAA, Hangzhou: "Couriers and Artisans of the Nation: An Exhibition of Chinese Ceramic Painting" in February 2023 and "New Perception of Technology: An Exhibition of Contemporary Experimental Crafts" in October 2023. Notably, their work "Blue-green Curtain" was acquired by The Victoria & Albert Museum in London, UK, in 2021.
